Hey could someone help me with this question?
using GC (TI-84) ...,
1. by plotting the curve, then using [calc][2:zero], find the x-coordinates of A & B.
0.52359 (pi/6) & 2.61788 (5pi/6)
2. by using [math][9:fnInt], calculate the definite integral for the boundaries found in step 1,
-3.82644
note that when region is below x-axis, the definite integral will be negative. just apply modulus to the value & give the answer as (positive) 3.83 (to 3 s.f.).
generally, as long as question does not say "do not use calculate ..." or "give exact answer", it means you can use GC.
if the question had said "give exact answer" ...
integrate y = 2cos2x -1 gives (sin2x) - x.
applying the boundaries give answer as
-sqrt[3]-2pi/3
(remember to apply modulus & give final answer as sqrt[3}+2pi/3).
