You are in the right track...
Total big beads = 180...(60%)
Total small beads = 120 ...(40%)
Big green = 180 × 30% = 54
Big red = 180-54 = 126

Now, divide into 2 groups
Big green = 54
Big red + all small beads = 126+120=246 (other beads)
Total all beads = 246+54 = 300

% of big green now = 54/300 ×100% = 18%
% of other beads = 82% → 246
When green increase to 40%
Other beads will be at 60%
Therefore, 60%→ 246
1% → 4.1

Green, 40% = 40×4.1 = 164
164-54 = 110
Answer to add in 110 big green beads into the box.

the sure fireway is to use algebra (units) to solve, if you use guesswork / trial and error to get 84 / 210 to get 40% that will require a sense of numbers
