Because mass is relayed directly to volume via density.

Things like mass and volume are three-dimensional, so the cube reflects this.

AC Lim’s approach is entirely correct and how I would expect Sec 2 students to answer the question.

Things involving area, including surface area, are two-dimensional so “square” is the way to go.

Things involving lengths, including radius, diameter, side, length, breadth, base, perpendicular height and so on are one-dimensional so there should not be swuare or cube.
