Compare the first two lines and you'll realise :
A + 1 = D

Compare the fourth and fifth lines and you'll realise :
D + 1 = G

So, A + 2 = G and therefore A = G - 2

Compare the fifth and sixth lines and you'll realise :

E + 1 = H , therefore E = H - 1

Hence, A + E + I

= G - 2 + H - 1 + I
= G + H + I - 3
= 7 - 3
= 4

Alternatively,

Comparing the second and third lines,

B + 1 = E

Comparing the third and fourth lines,

C + 1 = F

Comparing the sixth and seventh lines,

F + 1 = I

So, I = C + 2

Therefore, A + E + I

= A + B + 1 + C + 2
= A + B + C + 3
= 1 + 3
= 4
