however the answer does not add up to x²+5 when they are in a single fraction
Resubmitted my answer. The partial fraction formulas can only be used if degree of numerator < degree of denominator

Oops my bad. Notice that the highest degree (highest power) in both the numerator and denominator is 2. Need to use long division
