Use factorisation by grouping, where possible.

for (g), 11/8 is correct by -1/2 is not correct.
should be u = 11/8 or 9/4.

for (h), both answers incorrect.
should be w = 13 or 11/5
need not have expanded.
can bring all terms to one side and factorise as
a^2-b^2 = (a+b)(a-b).

can check each answer by substituting back into equation to verify that the answer satisfies the equation.

Silly mistakes corrected. Mr Bow's point about re-substituting the answers back into the original question to verify the answers, is a very good suggestion. Should always do so during tests/exams, time permitting.
