P lies on the line segment AB (means P is between A and B)

AP : BP = 2 : 3

Observe that moving from A to B results in a movement 5 units to the right (6 - 1 = 5) and 5 units upwards (7 - 2 = 5).

Because AP : BP : AB = 2 : 3 : 5, it’s clear that moving from A to P results in a movement 2 units to the right and 2 units upwards from point A.

Coordinates of P
= (1 + 2, 2 + 3)
= (3, 4)

I drew it out neatly... but a simple sketch is adequate to help you visualise the triangles to use, as well as the correct length ratios.
