Tea = $y
2x + 4y = 4.50→①
6x + 5y = 8.60→②
Multiply 3 throughout equation ①
6x + 12y = 13.50 →③
③-②; 7y = 4.90,
y = $0.70
Substitute y=0.70 to ①,
2x + 4(0.70) = 4.50
2x = 4.50 - 2.80
x = 1.70÷2
x = $0.85
A cup of tea = $0.85
A cup of coffee = $0.70
Tea = $y
2x + 4y = 4.50→①
