Note, since y2 is tangent to y1, so there is only one point of intersection for these two lines. Meaning which there only one root for these two equation, so b2-4ac must equal to zero.
Additional note: if these two lines does not intersect each other, b2-4ac is small than zero.
If these two lines intersect at two point, b2-4ac is bigger than zero.
