The trick is to put all the unknowns to one side (preferably the left side) while putting the knowns to the other side. Then, solve the left and right separately before doing the division of left side to right.
eg. 10x = 5
x= 5/10 = 1/2 <--- this is what I mean for division
eg. 10x = 5
x= 5/10 = 1/2 <--- this is what I mean for division
