x²(y-2) = 3²(y+2)
x²∙y - 2∙x² = 3²∙y + 18
x²∙y-3²∙y = 2∙x² + 18
y∙(x²-9) = 2∙x² + 18

y = (2∙x²+18) / (x²-9)

See 1 Answer

you’re on the right path, after you square both sides, cross multiply the fractions.
1. Expand the terms
2. Bring all the terms with “y” to one side.
3. Factorise out the “y”
4. Divide both side by the term associated to “y” so that you can get y to be the subject on the left hand side, and a fraction on right hand side(RHS)
5. You should have a term of (x^2-9) as the denominator in the RHS. Factorise it out since a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b)
6. Hence after cancelling similar terms, your final answer should be y= 2/(x-9)
