Water has a boiling point of 100°c and a freezing point of 0°c.

Liquid A's boiling point (120°c) is above 100°c, and its freezing point (-90°c) is below 0°c. Hence it is able to measure both the boiling and freezing points of water as they are within the range (-90°c to 120°c) at which A remains a liquid.

The rest of the Liquids B, C and D all have one value (either the boiling point or the freezing point) which is out of range from the boiling point or freezing point of water. Hence they are not suitable for the thermometer.
