Can someone please help me simplify this equation step by step? I need to find the value of x and the answer is 3 and 0. I don't understand where the zero came from

A very big common mistake is to divide both sides by x. This loses out on the solution x = 0.

x = 0 fits such equations well. So if you think of it, dividing both sides by x is akin to dividing both sides by 0, which is an undefined operation.

Try moving all the terms to one side first, then see if you can factorise out anything to simplify the equation.
