Let the initial mass of rice be x and the mass of rice used each day be y.
x - 15y = 2/5x
5x - 75y = 2x
3x = 75y —(1)
x - 18y = 1.4kg
x = 1.4kg + 18y —(2)
Since x = 1.4kg + 18y,
3 (1.4kg + 18y) = 75y
4.2kg + 54y = 75y
21y = 4.2kg
y = 0.2kg
x = 1.4kg + 18 (0.2kg) = 5kg
x - 15y = 2/5x
