would be easier to use Method of Differences to prove the sum, but since question calls for use of induction, so must follow the question.
we are still borrowing the idea from Method of Differences to cancel the middle terms.
note that have to make use of the fact that u1,u2,u3,…,un,.. are terms of an AP.

typo error ... in the induction step section, last line should be "RHS of Pk+1"
Woah. Even with your solution, it took me a while to get it.
Maybe I'm just not cut out for further maths.

... my humble opinion ...
maths is all about ...
1. understanding the concepts by reading the theory.
2. learning efficient methods/approaches to tackle different problems by analyzing worked examples done by others.
3. practice, practice, practice.
all 3 of the above components are essential, you cannot leave out any one of them.
further maths is a really great subject for growing your brain. 加油!

There is a reason why you took Further Maths. And not everyone could even qualify for it. You can definitely do it!
This topic used to be in H2 Maths many years ago (before H2 Maths suddenly became divided into two separate subjects, H2 Maths and H2 Further Maths)

Why does this question appear like a past year question anyway?
