b = k
c = 2k-5

b² - 4ac
= k² - 4•(2k-5)
= k² - 8k + 20
= ( k - 4 )² + 4 > 0

∴ x² + kx -2k - 5 = 0
has real and distinct roots for all real values of k.

ax² + bx + c = 0 , Discriminate = b² - 4ac > 0 ⇾ The quadratic equation has real and distinct roots.
