below only the working to find the x & y
x+y + x
= 2x+y
= 20÷2 = 10
y = 10-2x
(x+y)² + x² = 68
2x² + 2xy +y² = 68
2x² + 2x•(10-2x) +(10-2x)² = 68
x² - 10x + 16 = 0
(x-8)(x-2) = 0
x ₁ = 2 → y ₁ = 6
x ₂ = 8 (✘)
below only the working to find the x & y
