" × " x² + 2x -3 at both sides
x² + 2x -3 = (x+3)•(x-1)
3•(x+3) - 2x - 10 = x² + 2x -3
x² + x - 2 = 0
(x-1)•(x+2) = 0
x = -2 (Ans)
(d)
" × " x(x-1)(x+1) at both sides
x²-1 + 2x(x+1) + 3x(x-1) = 0
6x² - x -1 = 0
(3x + 1)•(2x - 1) = 0
x₁ = ½
x₂ = - ⅓
" × " x² + 2x -3 at both sides
x² + 2x -3 = (x+3)•(x-1)
3•(x+3) - 2x - 10 = x² + 2x -3
x² + x - 2 = 0
(x-1)•(x+2) = 0
x = -2 (Ans)
(d)

Thank you v much. Part (b) I got the same answer as you but answer key shows X = 3. Part (d), yeah you are right!!
Thx. beyond of the final ans., working is more ciritcal. Do u hv the working steps together w the ans key?
