you can square root each number... if the answer is a whole number, it is a perfect square. You can press the square root sign on the calculator (Casio calculator - located below x^3)

Example 1:

100 = 10 x 10
Therefore, 100 is a perfect square number.

Example 2:

50 = 7.071067812 x 7.071067812
Therefore, 50 is not a perfect square number

Do prime factorisation of each number and then for every number try to form a pair of prime factors.

If a number have pairs of prime factors then it's a perfect sqaure.

Eg 45 factors are 5, 3,3 . Here 3 is in pair but 5 is single hence not a perfect square.

For 100 - start with 5
Factors will be 5 , 5 ,2,2
Here both 5 and 2 are in pairs hence perfect square.
