Corner of square B is at the centre of Square A.

This always results in ¼ of the square A being shaded, no matter how you rotate square B (as long as you keep one of its corners at the centre of Square A)

Try drawing 3 more squares identical to square B, and place their corners at the centre of Square A

This requires a little visualisation. Since the square B is at the centre of square A, imagine rotating it clockwise. From there, it will be obvious that the overlapped shaded region is 1/4 of the total area = 16cm^2
