From the given answer, it's likely that the shaded region is a triangle like HCE (0.5 x 20 x 8).

HCDG is a square (this is easy to prove).

First, there is no shaded figure. I assumed they are referring to the whole figure here.

The important thing to note here is that they say, rectangle ABCD = rectangle HCEF.

So if you imagine 2 rectangles are the same, if they give you line HC =12cm, it also means CD = 12cm. (you try to shift rectangle ABCD anticlockwise to the right you will know what I mean)

From there, you can slowly mark the figures.
