Joe saved $260 more than Ben ($280 - $20 = $260).
Because of this, Joe would have $260 more than Ben.
Note that at the end, Joe would have 5 units of money while Ben would have 1 unit of money.
So, the difference of 4 units = $260
1 unit = $65
At the end, Ben had $65.
So at the start, Ben had $65 - $20 = $45.
Joe had $45 as well.
