its a covalent compound (its a simple molecular structure) so its supposed to be non metal and non metals being bond tgt
grp 1 are metal hydroxides which are metals, metals form ionic bonds with non metals, not covalent bonds, hence A is incorrect.

Correction :

Group I elements are not metal hydroxides.

They are elements that fall under the category of metals.

These elements tend to react with water to form basic hydroxides.

They tend to lose 1 electron per atom to form ionic compounds.

It's not always ionic bonds formed but at O levels you can take it to be that way.

As a student, she/? just does not know how to put it perfectly. Give chance.

It's not about giving chance or not. That is irrelevant. The purpose is not to ridicule or shame.

If this student is going to write that in the exam (lets say the question comes out as an open ended one), he/she will lose marks for incorrect/unfactual phrasing.

This happens a lot amongst the students I encounter. Having the gist or the idea, but unable to express it correctly in words.

Better to guide them towards the right path than to see them wander off course.

At A levels, this becomes even more significant.

I suggest you put up your correct answers for all those answers you see having problem. This is for the sick of all those who may just read the answers posted but not your written comments.
