Because Gas A is ammonia. Ammonia dissolves in water to form a solution of hydroxide ions and ammonium ions. (i.e aqueous ammonia).
NH3(g) + H2O(l) → OH-(aq) + NH4+ (aq)
This is an alkaline solution so the pH is above 7. Since we do not know the concentration of OH- in the solution, as long as it is above 7 it will suffice. Writing 8,9,10,11,12 will be accepted.
