isnt haber process supposed to be an exothermic reaction? (based on what i've memorised). why is the answer A instead of C

Look at the graph. On the reactants side you started off with a lower energy level and on the products side it has a higher energy level.
There is a net increase in energy which means overall energy was taken in (endergonic)
So endothermic is correct since the energy taken in is in the form of heat.
What you memorised is not wrong. But that is for the forward reaction N2 + 3H2 → 2NH3
The one that is shown here is the backward reaction, 2NH3 → 3H2 + N2
This question's 'forward reaction' is the opposite of the usual synthesis of ammonia. They are just flipping it around. Be careful when you try to apply memorised knowledge, always read the question's context first.

*Because we started from the ammonia side here, not the nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas side

Recall that the reaction is reversible.

If the progress of reaction was read from right to left instead, then exothermic would be correct.
