Make the number of $2 and $5 notes the same first.

Add 10 pieces of $5 notes in.

Total amount now
= $440 + $10 × 5
= $440 + $50
= $490

Now that you have the same number of $2 and $5 notes, group every 1 $2 note and 1 $5 note as one set.

Total value in 1 set = $2 + $5 = $7

Number of sets there are
= $490 ÷ $7
= 70

Since there is only 1 $2 note in each set,

Number of $2 notes there are = 70
