Continue to heat with an excess of concentrated H2SO4 to allow dehydration to form an alkene. Temperature you can write 170°C.

i.e CH2=CHCH3

Alkaline KMnO4, cold
(Or you can write KMnO4 in NaOH, cold)

This results in the formation of a diol

i.e CH2(OH)CH(OH)CH3

React this with excess CH3COCl (acetyl chloride or ethanoyl chloride), r.t.p

The reaction of an alcohol and an acyl chloride gives an ester.

Since you have two OH groups, two esters are formed.
