y = x + 1/2x² = x + ½x-²
dy/dx = 1 + (-2)(½x-³) = 1 - 1/x³
At stationary point, dy/dx = 0
1 - 1/x³ = 0
1 = 1/x³
x³ = 1
x = ³√1 = 1
When x = 1, y = 1 + 1/2(1²) = 1 + 1/2 = 3/2
