Convert fractions to same denominator in order to make comparison directly. Note that this can only be done when fractions are expressed in terms of the same thing (eg. Total Salary in this question). It may not apply when the question gives fractions based on different things (For an example, a questio might say "1/3 of salary" and "1/6 of his salary AFTER giving his money to his parents").
