Richard completes: 1/6 of the lego set in 1 hr
Sam completes: 1/4 of the lego set in 1 hr
Tom completes: 1/3 of the lego set in 1 hr.
if they all work together, they can complete:

1/6 + 1/4 + 1/3 = 3/4 of the lego set in 1 hr

But the exercise didn't ask how much they can do per hour; it asked how long they'll take to finish one lego set, WORKING TOGETHER.

Time they will take is therefore:
1/ t per hour
where t stands for the time it takes to complete 1 lego set together.

This gives us an expression for their combined hourly rate. We already had a numerical expression for their combined hourly rate (3/4 per hour). So, setting these two expressions equal"

1/t = 3/4

You can solve by flipping the equation;

t/1 = 4/3
3t = 4
therefore
1t or t = 4/3 hours
