Realise that all the shorter vertical sides on the left side add up to a total of 115 cm as well.

i.e their sum equals the length of AB.

Perimeter = 3.1m = 310 cm

All the shorter horizontal sides add up to a total of 1 side of the biggest square.

i.e their sum equals the length of BC.

So 310 cm = AB + BC + sum of all the shorter horizontal sides + sum of all the shorter vertical sides

310 cm = AB + BC + AB + BC

310 cm = AB + 115cm + AB + 115 cm

310 cm = 2AB + 230cm

So,

2AB = 310 cm - 230 cm
2AB = 80 cm

AB = 80 cm ÷ 2 = 40 cm

See 1 Answer

1.15 x 2 = 2.3m
3.1- 2.3 = 0.8
0.8 ➗2 = 0.4m

Ans:- 0.4m
