$ 28 on blouse
Remaining money = X - 28
2/5 (X-28) on book
left over = X/4
X - (28 + 2/5(x-28)) = X/4
X - 28 - 2X/5 + 56/5= X/4
X - 2X/5 - X/4 = 28 - 56/5
3/4 - 2X/5 = 84/5
7X/20 = 84/5
X = 84*20 / 5 * 7
X = 48
(a) cost of the book = 2/5 (48-28) = 2/5 * (20)
= $ 8
(b) Jennifer initially had $ 48
