Is there something wrong with this question? I can't solve using units and parts
Let 2x (you can call it 2 units or 2u) be David's number of books in the end.
Let 4y (you can call it 4 parts or 4p) be David's number of books at first.
Then these two equations can be formed:
2x + 30 = 4y ①
5x + 15 = 5y ②
① × 5 : 10x + 150 = 20y ③
② × 4 : 20x + 60 = 20y ④
④ = ③
10x + 150 = 20x + 60
10x = 90
x = 9
Bala's number of books in the end
= 5x
= 5 × 9
= 45
