The middle 3 cubes on the second layer don't actually touch the inside of the box since it's open top, which means there isn't a top surface
5-2 = 3
3-2 = 1
2-1 = 1
3×5×2 - 1×3×1 = 27 (Ans)
3-2 = 1
2-1 = 1
3×5×2 - 1×3×1 = 27 (Ans)

Method is correct, but it should be 27 cubes and not 17
