If you are familiar with the formula a^2 - b^2 = (a + b) (a - b), you can use it.
The resulting expression goes
(1 + 1/2) * (1 + 1/3) * (1 + 1/4) * ... * (1 + 1/2005)
= 3/2 * 4/3 * 5/4 * ... * 2006/2005
= (massive cancellations)
- 2006/2
= 1003
The resulting expression goes
(1 + 1/2) * (1 + 1/3) * (1 + 1/4) * ... * (1 + 1/2005)
= 3/2 * 4/3 * 5/4 * ... * 2006/2005
= (massive cancellations)
- 2006/2
= 1003
