Add the angles of the two triangles together.

a + b + e + c + d + e = 180 + 180

a + b + c + d + 2e = 360

290 + 2e = 360

2e = 360 - 290

2e = 70

e = 70 ÷ 2

e = 35

Alternatively, realise that a + b = c + d

So 290 = a + b + c + d = 2(a + b)

a + b = 290 ÷ 2 = 145

e = 180 - 145 = 35

∠a +∠b = ∠c +∠d = 290°÷2
∠e = 180° - 290°÷2 = 35° (Ans)
