For the first question, recognise how to convert the standard forms. And work around it.
For the second question, find what is the k value, and then work towards an equation.
To plot a simple graph, see where are the usual coordinates, or x/y-intercept. In this case, you will recognise that p or q cannot be zero, if not the equation becomes undefined. Hence, the graph is for both positive and negative values of q, and it does not touch the y or x axis.
