It's kind like english comprehension. Many kids failed to understand / interpret the question properly and moved in the wrong direction.
Ya so true. That why teachers say too.
But something so hard to understand and tricky too

Is it apply to all perctage question ? 75 is Ben and 100 will go to another one for sure ?
No. Depends on the phrasing.
① If you get something like 'Ben has 40% more marbles than John', then Ben is 140% and John is 100%
This is the same as :
'Ben has 1.4 times of John'
'Ben has 7/5 or 1 2/5 as many as John'
'Ben has 140% as many as John'
② If you get something like 'Ben has 40% less marbles than John' , then Ben is 60% and John is 100%.
This is the same as :
'Ben has 60% as many as John'
'Ben has 3/5 as many as John'
'Ben has 0.6 or 0.6 times as many as John'
③ If you get something like 'Ben has 250% more marbles than John', then Ben is 350% and John is 100%.
This is the same as :
'Ben has 350% as many as John'
'Ben has 3.5 times as many as John'
'Ben has 3½ or 7/2 as many as John'
