The radius of the quadrant is 8 cm. This is seen by realising that the diagonals of the rectangle have equal length.

So, the area of the quadrant
= pi x radius x radius / 4
= 3.14 x 8 x 8 / 4
= 50.24 cm2

The sides of the rectangle must be 6 cm and 5 cm long, since 8 - 2 = 6 and 8 - 3 = 5.

Area of the rectangle
= 6 x 5
= 30 cm2

So, the area of the shaded parts
= 50.24 - 30
= 20.24 cm2
