AC = BD = radius of quarter = 8cm (Ans)

(b)
shaded
= quarter - ▢ABCD
= ¼ ×π×8² - 8×4
= 18.27cm² (Ans)

Recognise that the radius of the circle is actually length BD. So, we know that the length is 8cm too. Then, we can find the area of quadrant. Next; we need solve for the length of AD. This is done through Pythagoras Theorem. And soon, we can find the area of square. Shaded area will then be area of quadrant - area of square.

Since it is 2 decimal place, then the answer is 18.27cm2

Nope, this question is tricky. But we need to know the definition of the radius. Radius is the length between the origin and the edge of the circle. Hence, from the diagram, the length of BD shows that. Therefore, the radius is 8cm.
