4/9 = 2p + 9f
5/9 (rest of her money) = 15f
1f = 5/9 /15 = 5/135
9f = 5/135 x 9 = 45/13 = 5/15
= 1/3 (simplified)
2p = 4/9 - 45/135 = 4/9 - 1/3 = 4/9 - 3/9
= 1/9
1p = 1/9 /2 = 1/18
no. pens = 1/ 1/18 = 18 pens
(b) if 1 pen = 1.50
18 pens = 18 x 1.50
= $27
