Notice that for the remaining part of the paper, it was folded exactly upon itself, resulting in a right angled triangle with no extra section sticking out.

This tells you that the two right angled triangles separated by the dotted line are identical, and are mirror images of each other.

So all four sides of the unshaded part of the paper are equal in length. It is actually a square shape.

Each side has a length equal to the breadth of the original rectangular piece of paper, which is 6cm.

On the second part after the arrow, you can infer that the width of the rectangular paper is 6cm
