Note that the diagonal line passing through the origin O (0,0) and point (5,5) has equation y = x

Working (if it is not immediately obvious)

y = mx + c

Sub c = 0, x = 5, y = 5,

5 = m(5) + 0

5 = 5m

m = 1

So , y = x

We write y ≤ x as the inequality , since in region R, any points is either on the line or below it.

This means that the y-values are either smaller than or equal to their corresponding x-values.
