Assume you want proof of equation:
from definition for average speed: (v+u)/2=s/t
from definition for (average) acceleration: a=(v-u)/t --> v=u+at
given a=g (constant),
s/t=1/2x((u+gt) + u)
hence s=ut+(gt^2)/2
