Draw a model in this manner. I use symbols to illustrate the model.

In small dots are the amount donated to charity (I input 6 of them just to make them look clearer as you draw the model)
You can see that there is a difference of 3 units (3 ֍) between them.
3 ֍ = 130 - 100
3 ֍ = 30
֍ = 10
4 ֍ = 10 x 4
4 ֍ = 40
So, Ali had $40 left.
(Both donated $90)
