3 small circles
3×π×7²
= 3×(22/7)×7²
= 462cm² (Ans)

(b) perimeter
1 small + 1 big
2π×(7 + 14)
= 2 × (22/7) × (7+14)
= 132cm (Ans)

Recognise what is the radius of the big circle and the small circle. Then work out the area of each circle onwards, then do the necessary subtraction.

Notice that the entire diameter of the small circle touches the centre of the big circle, this means that the radius of the big circle = diameter of small circle
