The teacher wants the student to use model to solve. Please do assist with models as units method is not accepted by teacher despite getting same answer. Appreciate with thanks

The two models drawn are correct.

What needs to be done next is to draw another model for the number of muffins in end.

□□□□ 63

This is equal to the model that was already drawn :

□46□46□46

which can be redrawn as :

□□□ 46 46 46

So
□□□□ 63
□□□46 46 46

Are equal.

Are u able to provide the solution as well. The final answer is 375 but the steps were mark wrong. So we need to double check the steps to tally with the model

From the above models ,

46 x 3 = 138

138 = 1 unit + 63

138 - 63 = 75 = 1 unit


Number of muffins at first = 4 x 75 = 300
Number of cupcakes at first = 75

Total at first = 300 + 75 = 375

Alternatively to the last part :

Since there were 5 units at first,

Total number of muffins and pies at first = 5 x 75 = 375
