"My Biography"
Summary
Hello, my name is Don! I teach both economics and finance, both of which I’m most passionate about. I have been tutoring since 2016, specialising in the IGCSE, A-level, International Baccalaureate syllabus. I currently teach both individual tuition (8 students) as well as at a group tuition centre (class size of 6). On average, my student would have improved by at least one grade from 6 months of tutoring. My specialty as a full-time tutor lies in imparting students with the necessary analysis skills needed for an Economics exam, as well as my ability to connect with my students. My decision to enter private tutoring is also based on the belief that I have an advantage over the rest of the tutors when it comes to imparting students with application skills and essay answer structures.
In NUS, I was fortunate to be a part of the NUS Investment Society, which we were very often exposed to a hands-on approach to investing. Having proven myself to knowledgeable with global macroeconomics, I was selected to be the Deputy Head of the Global Macro Research Team. I also gave workshop presentations to the public on the basics of global macro economics toward an average audience of about 100 people weekly.
My decision to enter private tutoring is also based on the belief that I have an advantage over the rest of the teachers when it comes to enabling students to be more productive. During my schooling days, I have researched for myself more effective ways to study and maintain productivity levels, which I have went on to teach several of my past students on how they can improve their productivity. As of now, my focus now is to help students who have went through the same struggles as me during my time in Junior College, and provide them with a map to navigate this maze called A-levels.
In summary, it is pertinent to ensure that education becomes fun for your children! Instead of just rote memorization, children absorb concepts much better when they are able to relate it to topics that interests them. I will also be imparting to your child critical exam techniques which I feel are essential in acing examinations, the same way in which it has worked for me throughout my schooling days.
